My name is Robert J Bache`, I am the President/Commissioner of the NAFFL.  This is the Nashville Adult Flag Football League, we are a non-profit league, and I started the league in the spring of 1993.  I moved here from Virginia, I played Flag in Virginia for quite a few years while I was in and out of Pro camps.  I loved it and searched here for a league in the city.  Well I found that there use to be a City League, but it was basically a fight every week.  Well as you could guess the City folded the league and now everyone was out of luck.  Well I didn’t want that, I just love playing the game.  Well I couldn’t find any leagues so I decided to bring the game I played in Virginia to Nashville.  It has been a blast, and I love running the league.  I think it is one of the better leagues around and It is very organized.  Most players come in knowing that we are just here to play football and compete.  There is 0 tolerance on problems, they get taken care of quickly, and professionally. Overall I appreciate  the players, coaches, families and others who show great respect to the league and seem to understand my purpose and realize I do not run the league for money purposes each year.  Even when we move about every 2 years to locations that are a bit more of a drive for some and not to bad for others.  Well I apologize for that but, my goal is to play the league every season, the players seem to understand that.  I appreciate all the players, coaches and spectators for participating in the league every weekend of every season.  Soon we will have home base to play.  I have been in touch with the City and it seems as if they will be moving a soccer field or two to the Metro Center (Ted Rhodes) location for us to play our league, maybe by spring or fall of 2007.

We have a great league, it is both competitive and all teams seem to have a great time season in and season out.  We are averaging 10 teams a season, and there is a good mix of experience in the league.  We have teams that have been in the league 8 years or so and some players just as long or longer.  We have teams that travel and play out of state $$ tournaments, we have teams who are first year teams and are just starting to build, and we have teams which just want have fun on a weekend.  It seems as if everyone is kind of hooked on the game of flag football here in Nashville.  New teams know that it is tough to come in and dominate.  It takes a little while to have their team move into the top 5 or so of league.  We run both a Spring League which runs February to April  each year and then our big season is the Fall League  each year.  August and ending around December.  Seasons last generally 6-12 weeks depending on the season we are playing.  We always cap off every season with a One day League Championship.  A chance for a team to experience tournament play and possibly carry the title of the team to beat in the next season. 

I would like to extend my appreciation to Mike Ipsen from Mickey Skelley Sports Officials organization, who has headed up the referee’s used for the NAFFL the last few years, My opinion and experience will allow me to say that his crews are 
“ TOP NOTCH”
 and that they have made the league better than ever with their participation.  They are fair and diplomatic with how they control all games.
